Tonight, Francis Collins, one of the directors of the Human Genome Project, is speaking at Battell Chapel about “The Language of God.” Somehow, in all his research, he “found God.” He believes in what they call “theistic evolution”–he calls it BioLogos. Basically, evolution happened, but it’s guided by God.
Basically, he takes his immense accomplishments and scientific background to draw unscientific conclusions and help further his religious agenda. He’s clashed with Richard Dawkins quite a few times, and, in my opinion, Dawkins has always seem to come out with the more rational thought. It’ll be interesting to see what Collins has to say.
(He does wholeheartedly deny creationism and Intelligent Design, which I guess earns him a little more respect.)
After that talk is the Vice Presidential debate. It should be interesting to watch Palin on the spot and see if she can match up to Biden’s expertise, or if she’ll make the same blunders she’s been making the past couple weeks (see Katie Couric, etc.).
Oh, I also have a chemistry midterm tomorrow, whose study session is from 7 to 9. I’m choosing the lecture and debate over the study session. Is that a bad thing?
