Holy crap an update

January 29, 2009

Hey all,

Sorry for the lack of updates. Ian may have his own reasons, but me personally… well I’ve been busy, but I’ve also been focusing a lot on my own blog, which is something I’ve wanted to do, and finally–with a little push–did.

But that’s me. Bingham C13. Well, were still here. And we don’t want to kill each other… well not all of us. Things are going well. Our suite is still undecorated, messy, yet quite simply amazing. Chris still gets the late night highs and sings amazing late night songs. Khalid is sick (again) but is excited that Of Montreal is coming to Toads. Ian is still pushing through his heaping amount of DS reading but always seems to have a female-related story to tell. Wesley… well I got Wesley hooked on another computer game. He might’ve beaten it already though. Marc is rockin it… still livin life with a smile.

And me? Well, there’s a lot on my plate, but i’m trying to cruise through with a smile. Overall, things are still pretty flippin’ awesome here at Yale. I can’t think of a place I’d rather be.

My Friends

December 16, 2008

I’m sorry updates have been… well, non-existent.

A number of things have contributed to our sudden posting hiatus. Out of a sense of loyalty to our cherished readers (which at this point number about four) I will do my best to explain the circumstances that have lead to this decline in activity.

Basically, our meeting with our dean kind of made us want to tone it down a little bit. A lot of people really like our sense of humor (read: everyone except the three readers who write bitchy ass anonymous comments that we laugh at and then promptly delete), however, there are certain individuals who don’t appreciate what we have to say and they leave a lot of bitchy ass anonymous comments that we laugh at and then promptly delete. Yale is a very PC place. It’s actually kinda gross how PC Yale is. But, that’s the way it works, and we have to… not, say inappropriate things. For fear of not getting hired in the future and stuff.

Also, we’ve actually started doing work. Camp Yale was a lot of fun in the sense that we didn’t have anything to do. No longer the case. This not only prevents us from having sufficient time to update, but it also stiffles the creative process, as I no longer have time to stop and think about how something can be turned into a funny post.

So the combination of responding to yale’s PC and having work to do = fewer posts.

However! I think I’m going to come out retirement and begin publishing again next semester. The keener among y’all will understand that I’m not beginning immediately because, for all effective purposes, this semester is over. So yeah.

Peace,
-Ian

Guys, seriously?

December 6, 2008

We haven’t posted in ages. AGES.

it’s 3:40 am, and I’m not really feeling writing about anything. But I think the suite can say that tonight was a really good night. I personally had YDN inductions (featuring our lovely blog), went to Sig Ep for a fun rave, then met up with PC folk for some Yorkside and chillin. Then came back to the lovely Bingham C13 to find a dance party (about to get shut down) and at least 3 (maybe 4) other awesome suitemates. Doesn’t get better than that.

I’ve paid my dues -
Time after time -
I’ve done my sentence
But committed no crime -
And bad mistakes
I’ve made a few
I’ve had my share of sand kicked in my face -
But I’ve come through

We are the champions – my friends
And we’ll keep on fighting – till the end -
We are the champions -
We are the champions
No time for losers
‘Cause we are the champions – of the world -

We are the champions – my friends
And we’ll keep on fighting – till the end -
We are the champions -
We are the champions
No time for losers
‘Cause we are the champions – of the world –

Things you shouldn’t be doing at 2:40 in the morning while you are working on a DS Paper:

1. Watching Daft Punk videos on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWMM8EmMZ-E

2. Writing in your blog.

Prop 8

November 7, 2008

My views on Proposition 8, summed up simply by Sherri Barrett, 47, a homemaker from Northridge.

Sherri Barrett, 47, a homemaker from Northridge, has been with her partner Kelly Cabral for four years. Today, Barrett was alone, holding a sign that read, “Chickens – 1, Gays – 0.”

She was upset that birds would get more humane treatment through the passage of Proposition 2, but gays and lesbians would not. “If they only had as much compassion for humans as they do chickens, it would be a beautiful place,” Barrett said.

An observation

November 6, 2008

From the transcript of McCain’s concession speech on Tuesday night:

My friends, we have — we have come to the end of a long journey. The American people have spoken, and they have spoken clearly. A little while ago, I had the honor of calling Senator Barack Obama — (boos) — to congratulate him — (boos) — please — to congratulate him on being elected the next president of the country that we both love.

From the transcript of Obama’s victory speech on Tuesday night:

A little bit earlier this evening, I received an extraordinarily gracious call from Senator McCain. (Cheers, applause.) Senator McCain fought long and hard in this campaign, and he’s fought even longer and harder for the country that he loves. He has endured sacrifices for America that most of us cannot begin to imagine. We are better off for the service rendered by this brave and selfless leader. (Applause.) I congratulate him, I congratulate Governor Palin for all they’ve achieved, and I look forward to working with them to renew this nation’s promise in the months ahead. (Cheers, applause.)

Note the disparities between the boos from the McCain supporters at the mentioning of Obama and the applause from the Obama supporters at the mentioning of McCain. It’s kind of childish, in my opinion, how McCain supporters at the rally reacted… yet the Obama supporters didn’t hesitate in showing McCain the respect he deserves.
